How old does my puppy need to be?
Puppies of all ages are welcome. Call and tell Barbara about your puppy. She will help you find the best starting point for wherever you are.
What vaccinations does my puppy need?
Your puppy needs to be up to date on their shots for their age, and you upload the vaccination record in your PocketSuite account during signup. What is needed depends on how old your puppy is.
How big are the classes?
Small, on purpose. A small group means your questions get answered and your puppy gets real attention every week. It also means spots are limited.
How do I register?
Sign up online by clicking the Click to Register button, select your class, pick a time, and set up your PocketSuite account so you can manage your pet's information and scheduling anytime.

Where are classes held?
Outdoors, in the Thornton area. The exact location is confirmed when you register.
What training methods do you use?
Positive, reward-based training. Your puppy learns with treats, play and encouragement. No prong, choke or e-collars. Puppies do their best learning when they feel safe, and it is kinder for everyone.
Are you insured?
Yes. Sit and Stay Academy is fully insured.
What do I need to bring?
A flat buckle collar or a harness, a standard six-foot leash, and small soft treats your puppy loves. That is everything.
My puppy is nervous around other dogs. Is a group class a bad idea?
Not necessarily. Gentle group experience is often exactly what a shy puppy needs. Mention it when you call, and Barbara will plan a soft, gradual introduction from day one.
What happens after the five weeks?
You will have the twelve core skills and, just as important, the know-how to keep building on them. Barbara will help you choose what is worth working on next for your particular dog.
Do you train adult dogs?
The specialty here is puppies, on purpose. If you have an adult dog, call and describe the situation. Barbara will help you find the best path forward for your dog.
What if I miss a week?
Let Barbara know as early as you can. In a small class it is usually possible to work something out, and she will make sure you have what you need to keep practicing at home in the meantime.
The question behind most of these
Almost everyone calling is really asking one thing: is my puppy normal? Almost always, the answer is yes. The biting, the barking, the puddles and the zoomies are all part of being a puppy.
Class is where it all turns into a plan. One skill at a time, with someone who has seen it all before and will be genuinely glad to meet your puppy.
